I Waited...

For me this work needs no explanation... but if you would like technical details, come along to a studio workshop in the new year!

This is my first Byzantian Icon...Finished! Embellished with gold leaf and varnished. I hope to continue with this theme using fused and painted glass.

The Icon develops with colour and detail...

Interestingly, if you are a female painter of Icons tradition says you can only paint women because it is not possible to get into the 'male psyche' and produce an authentic male Icon!? I chose Gabrielle intuitively, an angel -neither male nor female!

After sketching your chosen Icon - this is Gabrielle - block in basic shapes then build up face with fine lines

I returned from Skiathos inspired and energized, ready to put into practice the traditional Icon painting techniques I learned - but using warm glass not ply-board (and without the egg!)
